I’ve been getting a lot of inquiries about the Anime Realms scandal.
🕹️ As many of you know, Anime Realms is a popular Roblox game. They sold the game to a user for $850,000.
😡 The Anime Realms creators allege that they sent the administrative controls to the game and the Discord server to the buyer, but he didn’t send the payment.
I wasn’t involved in this transaction, but if I was, here is what I would’ve advised.
For a deal of this size, nearly $1 million, and with a buyer who the creators don’t know, I would’ve recommended that they use an escrow agent.
🏦 The way an escrow works is the buyer puts the money into a bank account that is controlled by a neutral third party.
🗝️ And the seller turns over the administrative credentials to the game to the neutral third party.
🏦 + 🗝️ Once that neutral third party confirms that they have both the keys to the game, and the buyer’s money has cleared, they will then disburse the money to the seller, and the administrative game credentials to the buyer.
🏡 This is the same process that’s used in just about any purchase of a home. It protects the seller and the buyer from any monkey business. 🐒
But that didn’t happen here.
In my next video I’ll talk about what type of legal options the Anime Creators have now.
