It’s a lawsuit unboxing day!
pic sued two UEFN developers yesterday who used bots to inflate their player counts.
Let’s take a peek at the suit!
➡️The suit was filed against Idris Nahdi and Ayob Nasser in Michigan.
➡️Epic starts off with the background about Fortnite, Battle Royale, how players can make islands under the Island Creator Program, and how players agree to all of Epic’s terms.
💡 A lot of this is context for the judge, who probably has never played Fortnite.
➡️ Now Epic is moving into what the defendants allegedly did: between Dec. 2024 & Feb. 2025, the defendants created thousands of fake bot accounts to increase engagement payouts. Over 20k fakes accounting for 90% of their islands!
➡️ Epic doesn’t say exactly how much money they made from the scheme, just generally: “tens of thousands of dollars.”
➡️ Epic says that 9 of 10 defendants’ islands had over 80% bots, and in some cases over 99% bots!
➡️ Epic brings claims for breach of contract (that’s the Fortnite online terms everyone agrees to), copyright infringement, and fraud in the inducement.
I’ll keep tabs on this lawsuit and post updates!
