Game developers are a lot like professional athletes

They’re young and brilliant in one particular area, but don’t have some of the life skills yet that come with age. They’re on top of the world now, but there’s no guarantee they’re going to be able to maintain it forever.

One of the most rewarding things for me is helping them think and plan for the future. That means talking about savings, retirement, and working with professional money managers and advisers. If they plan correctly, they can be set for life. I kind of think of myself as a helpful uncle, which makes sense, since I’ve been told I have “unc status” -- aka, I’m old. Haha.
